How to load new profiles onto the Helix from the GUI

Published on October 27, 2014 in sections Letus Helix, Software

Profiles are text files that can be sent by e-mail and saved in your computer. They contain all the settings to determine how the Helix will operate.

If you need to restore your profiles back to the default profiles for your Helix, you can find them at this page.

Loading all five profiles at once

If you have a file with all five profiles in it, you can load all of them at once.  This is a real time saver.  The directions for doing this are slightly different from one at a time (see below).

  1. Save the profiles into the correct folder. There is a folder called Profiles in the SimpleBGC_GUI… folder. This is where they should go.
  2. If you are not sure where the SimpleBGC_GUI… folder is located, you can go into the GUI and toward the top of the screen, you will see the Profile section. Hit the Load… button and use the dropdown menu to determine where it is located.
  3. Connect to the Helix (if not already connected) via USB cable or Bluetooth connection.
  4. In the menus at top, go to File -> Load profile(s) from a file.  Select the file you want.  (Note: if you cannot see it in the folder, use finder/Windows Explorer to make sure that your operating system hasn’t added an extension like .txt to the end of it.)
  5. Go to Board -> Write all profiles to the board.  All profiles are now loaded.

Loading one profile at a time

  1. Save the profiles into the correct folder. There is a folder called Profiles in the SimpleBGC_GUI… folder. This is where they should go.
    1. If you are saving a second set of profiles for the Helix, it would be a good idea to create a folder inside of the Profiles folder and save them inside of that folder so that you still have the original profiles. The GUI will not have a problem with creation of a new folder.
    2. If you are not sure where the SimpleBGC_GUI… folder is located, you can go into the GUI and toward the top of the screen, you will see the Profile section. Hit the Load… button and use the dropdown menu to determine where it is located.
  2. Load the first profile on to the Helix
    1. Connect to the Helix (if not already connected) via USB cable or Bluetooth connection.
    2. In the Profile section of the GUI (toward the top of the screen regardless of tab), select Profile 1 in the dropdown menu (first option if none is listed as Profile 1)
    3. Hit the Load… button and double click on the Profile to load it into the GUI as Profile 1. (Note: if you cannot see it in the folder, use finder/Windows Explorer to make sure that your operating system hasn’t added an extension like .txt to the end of it.)
    4. Hit the WRITE button.
  3. Load the remaining profiles on to the Helix in the same fashion, being sure to bring up the proper profile number each time.
