If you are upgrading your firmware from version 2.43 b6 or earlier, you should know that there are SIGNIFICANT changes that must be made to the profiles to make them work with the new firmware.  Please read this article fully BEFORE starting the upgrade process to find out how to deal with profiles.

The procedure for upgrading firmware is as follows:

  1. Get the most recent GUI and install it.
  2. Open the GUI and connect to the Helix via USB cable. Make sure the connection is working properly (dials move when you physically rotate the Helix by hand).
  3. Go to the Upgrade tab
  4. Make sure your GUI is displaying the Automatic tab within the Upgrade tab
  5. Check the box that says “Check for beta versions”
  6. Click the CHECK button.
  7. You should get a message telling you that a new firmware version is available for download. Click the “Go to upgrade…” button.
  8. Using the “Upgrade to version” dropdown menu, select the 2.56 b2 version labeled as a Letus version on the dropdown menu.  NEVER use a firmware version that is not labeled as being for Letus.
  9. Click the UPGRADE! button.
  10. Check the Skip button when it asks for your e-mail address.
  11. After about 15 – 45 seconds you should receive a message saying that the firmware has updated successfully. Click OK to acknowledge the message.
  12. Load the default profiles appropriate for this GUI (or use other methods in article above on dealing with profiles).
  13. Calibrate the Helix.  Note:  Your Helix will not work without calibration.
